AU logo CP13-3 Thinking outside the Box with ObjectDBX TM

Contents:

Want to get other project members integrated into your design team? Ever wish there was a way to gather project-related data from outside AutoCAD? Come learn how you can use ObjectDBXTM, XML, VBA, and ActiveX to harness the data contained in your files without viewing them through AutoCAD.

Learn how ObjectDBX can be used to read and modify AutoCAD drawings in a fraction of the time required to open the same document inside AutoCAD. Learn how data integration and sharing can help all the members of your project team work more productively.

Learn how XML can be used to read and modify (be careful!) project related data to integrate all the members of your project team and to work more productively.

Usage:

Click the links shown across the left side of the screen, or alternately click the navbar items shown across the top of the this page to view the appropriate documents or access the code used as examples. Each of the categories:

  • ObjectDBXTM
  • XML using SAX
  • XML using DOM
A few examples use the ADT Sample Project files installed to a custom path "C:\Program Files\ABS2004...". If you installed to a different path, you can open the code and modify the path or unzip this to your "C" drive using the "folders" option.

Feedback:

As this was my first Autodesk University Class, I would welcome your feedback on how I can improve any aspect of this class, including but not limited to the handout, presentation, code, examples, etc. Please feel free to contact me by clicking on the Contact button located in the vertical navsash to your left or by clicking on the contact navbar button located at the far right of the navbar at the top of the screen.

Thanks!
